The Aquacel Hydrofiber Dressing by Conva Tec. is a fibrous dressing produced from 100% pure sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC). It brings together the look, feel, and handling qualities of gauze and leading alginates, while retaining more fluid than alginates and almost 3 times more fluid than gauze when used under compression. Recommended for the management of pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, abrasions, lacerations, incisions, donor sites and second degree burns and on infected wounds, as well as surgical or traumatic wounds that have been left to heal by secondary intention. It can be used on wounds bleeding-prone and to enable the control of minor bleeding.
